Since 2014, Andrea Balestrini is a landscape architect from the University of Stuttgart and and Politecnico di Milano. He is Head of the innovation Think Tank LAND Research Lab®.
During his studies he focused on the topic of landscape recovery and water sensitive urban design in European cities but also metropolis such as Seoul, Cairo and Lima, where he worked and developed his diploma thesis with the Municipal Office for Green Areas and Parks (SERPAR) in collaboration with the research project Future Megacities, local universities and NGOs.
His professional background gathers both academic experiences at the University of Stuttgart (ILPÖ, IUSD) and professional engagement in private firms. He deepened his expertise into strategic plans, landscape masterplans, management of cultural landscapes and climate adaptation.
He is also involved in complex processes of territorial transformation and European projects on climate resilience, especially regarding the planning, implementation and assessment of nature-based solutions.
ENGAGEMENT
Andrea is member of the international network Guiding Architects and of the Italian Architects Chamber.
