Biography
Mr. Sanjeev Tamhane is a sustainable energy finance expert with a record of accomplishments of managing assignments and teams of professionals across different sectors including urban infrastructure. He is Senior Finance Expert at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.
For MGI, he facilitates the review of project ideas from the financing perspective in partner countries since 2020. He conducts financial cost benefit analysis and prepares investment plans for the pilot project in Kochi, India. He also contributes to reports on financing sustainable cities.
Sanjeev’s field of expertise is the development and structuring of projects in the areas of sustainable energy, urban infrastructure, conducting due diligence of projects as well as developing and recommending financing structures for projects.

Sanjeev was a lead member of a team that facilitated formation of a dedicated fund to support urban local bodies in a southern India. He was actively associated with the formation of a trust fund and asset management company for the purpose and coordination with partner financial institutions and the state government.
Sanjeev has proven expertise in project financing, business development, due diligence and effective monitoring. He has achieved financial closures of several projects within the C&I sectors. He proved his expertise in numerous assignments focusing on green SME finance, financing product development as well as sustainable energy finance. He has led several market assessments studies and strategy development in climate change mitigation and adaptation with specific reference to private sector involvement.
Sanjeev is an expert with specialization in C&I business development and SME finance with reference to clean energy technologies and low emission development. Furthermore, he has delivered excellent results in regulatory and policy advice, capacity building, institutional development and strategic alliance areas. During his career, Sanjeev has led and implemented assignments in many countries in Asia and Africa during his tenures with broad variety of organizations such as UN Environment Programme, international consulting firms, an electricity regulator and a premier financial institution.
